Mission: The museum has a space for temporary exhibitions, a slide show tracing the history of wheat, and an exhibit of machinery from rudimentary implements to automated machinery. The "History of Wheat" traces the evolution of agriculture, the mill, and the bakery, followed by a reconstruction of an old grain storeroom. Another exhibition shows the transformation of cereals (wheat, barley, spelt, rye, buckwheat, and oats) into flour by the primitive millstone, the watermill, and modern milling. The baker's expertise is demonstrated on the ground floor, with a farmer's oven (1887); a "geuelard," a traditional baking oven, and a modern rotary oven

Admission Info: Open mid-February to mid-December, 9 am to 6 pm. Admission fee, less for students, children, and groups.

Other Info: Opened in 1988. In 1991 it received Mention speciale for Prix Europeen du Musee de l'Annee. Has a cafe, the "Ceres Bakehouse," on the ground floor.

Mission: In a 17th-century cheese factory, the artisanal mehods of making cheese are employed. Also on exhibit: utensils originally used in Alpine chalets, local produce, artists and craftsmen from the region. Cheesemaking demonstrations four times daily between 9 am and 3 pm, according to the season.

Admission Info: Open daily: October - May, 9 am - 6 pm; June - September, 9 am - 7 pm. Admission fee. Guided tours in six languages.

Mission: Located in a small mountain village on l'Aubrac in Lozere, the world of honey, bees, and apiculture is shown through a documentary film, illustrations, cut-open hives, and honey tasting. Outside the museum a reproduction of a hive in human size allows visitors to see how bees work throughout the various stages of their lives. Visitors also can participate in the extraction of honey and putting it into containers.

Admission Info: Open daily, July 1 - mid-September, 2:30 - 6:30 pm. Admission free. Hours and fee subject to change.

Mission: Furnished in the style of the bakers' guild of 1522, the museum presents the history of bread and wheat in Alsace and throughout the world, the techniques and methods of baking, and related objects and equipment. A functioning contemporary baking room allows visitors to have hands-on experience and to see demonstrations of breadmaking, especially of the regional specialties: kougelhopf, bretzels, and other varieties.

Admission Info: Open January 3 - 13, February through June, and September to November, from Tuesday to Friday, 10 am - noon and 2 - 6 pm; July and August, Tuesday Friday, 10 am noon and 1 6 pm, Saturday and Sunday, 10 am 5 pm; From November 30 December 23, daily from 10 am -7 pm; May 8 and 9, from 2- 6 pm. Closed January 14 31, March 31, April 1, May 1, August 15, November 1 and 11, December 24 to January 1. Admission fee, adjusted for groups, students, children. Group tours available.

Other Info: a regional association of active and retired bakers, to promote the profession of artisan-baker.

Mission: Each summer 15,000 tons of sea salt are extracted using a series of evaporation pans, hand tools and traditional methods. Project initiated by the salt producers co-op of Guerande

Admission Info: Open daily April June, and September, 10:30 am 12:30 pm and 2:30 6 pm; July and August, 9:30 am 12:30 pm and 2:30 7 pm. October to March (outside school vacation), open Wednesday Sunday. During school vacation, open daily, 10:30 am 12:30 pm and 2:30 - 6 pm. Guided tours; reservation required.
